Why do you need to find topic ideas for your blog or website?

You know, if you have nothing to write for your site, you have nothing new for your visitors. They may not come back. Your site traffic may drop and your Google rankings may also lose over time. So, you need to research new topics to add more interesting and valuable content to your site. By adding new content regularly, your site will:

  • Attract and engage more visitors with their interests, problems, and needs.
  • Drive more search engine traffic and earn backlinks.
  • Build authority and credibility in your field.
  • Generate leads, sales, and other goals.
  • Increase user experience with your interesting and entertaining content.

The aim is to make your website useful, popular, and authoritative for your audience and Google.

However, it is challenging to find any topics at any time that will interest your target audience. Most website owners even don’t know how to do it. But you can find unlimited content ideas for your blog or website with ChatGPT easily. What you have to learn is how to leverage or prompt ChatGPT to get it effectively.

What is ChatGPT?

I hope most people and you might have already heard about the recent developments in artificial intelligence and even how to use ChatGPT. So, let me tell you shortly about it.

ChatGPT is an amazing AI tool created by OpenAI. Similar to this Large Language Model (LLM), now there are many other tools like Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, etc. You can use any of them that is convenient to you. They have free and paid versions.

To use ChatGPT, go to https://chat.openai.com and register if you are a new user or login to access your account. You can also use their mobile app by downloading it from the app store.

Then, you can start using it. You can ask any question by typing text or voice commands. A question or statement entered into it for an answer or response is called a prompt. An effective prompt helps ChatGPT generate the right answer as quickly as we want. In this article, I am sharing the ChatGPT prompts I use for content ideation. I hope you will enjoy using them to find several content ideas for your blog or website.

Tips to Use ChatGPT for Finding Blog Content Ideas

Before you begin, know your topic and target audience. For example, your topic might be digital marketing, fitness, weight loss, smartwatches, or anything. Start from the broad topic. Then, know your target audience i.e. the country or city, age, sex, etc.

Now, let’s start finding your blog content ideas.

1. Find Subtopics

There might be many other subtopics of a topic that you ever didn’t think of to write for your blog. ChatGPT can find them out for you. Ask it by typing into the chatbox as follows:

ChatGPT prompt: “What are some specific subtopics within [topic]?

If your topic is digital marketing, type it in the placeholder. The response may look like this:

Ask ChatGPT for subtopics

That is a part of the screen from the actual results. You will see more subtopics by scrolling down when you do the same. See if there is any topic you have yet to cover on your blog. If you want to find subtopics of a subtopic, you can ask further. For example, if you want to see subtopics of on-page SEO, ask as follows:

ChatGPT prompt: “What are some specific subtopics within on-page SEO?”

Read the response and see if there is any subtopic yet to cover for your audience. By doing so, you can find several topic ideas to write your blog posts by asking subtopics of a topic to ChatGPT. Once you find any topic you want to write, use a keyword research tool like Google Keyword Planner, SEMRush, Ahrefs, etc. to find the right keyword ideas on the topic.

If you want to write on trending topics, ask ChatGPT to find them. Ask as follows:

ChatGPT prompt: “What are the latest trends in [topic]?

For example, if the topic is weight management, type it in the placeholder. The answer may look like this:

Ask ChatGPT for trending topics

See any interesting topic you want to write from the results. You can also find subtopics of any interesting topic as we did above. Don’t forget to analyze SEO metrics on any topic with a keyword tool before you write for your site.

3. Identify Common Problems and Solutions

Writing about common problems and solutions your website audience faces will greatly interest them. You can ask like this:

ChatGPT prompt: “What are common problems new [website audience] face and how can they solve them?”

If you focus on content marketers, write it in the placeholder. You will get results like this:

Ask ChatGPT for pain points

ChatGPT will list the pain points and solutions in its response. Find an interesting topic and write a full blog post on it. If you want more topics, type into the chatbox something like “List more like this” and hit Enter.

4. Generate Listicle Ideas

A listicle is the type of article with a list. Most readers love to read listicles. They also attract backlinks for your site. You can ask for a listicle structure like this:
